Minutes of the May 19, 2004 meeting were reviewed and approved.
APPLICATION COUNT: Dr. Jenkins reported undergraduate applications down
slightly from 2003, but an increase in transfer student applications
and Georgia applications.
BOOKS FOR BAGDAD: Dr. Ketterer reported he has called the U.S. State
Department to inquire about assistance in shipping books to
Bagdad. He is awaiting the returned call.
2005-2006 PROPOSED ACADEMIC CALENDAR: Dr. Turner reported the proposed
academic calendar meets the President’s class meetings
requirement. The calendar also includes a January 2nd staff
return date which may change if an additional holiday is approved by
the President. If approved, the extra holiday would not affect
student registration. Academic Council members unanimously
approved the proposed 2005-2006 Academic Calendar.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dr. Turner announced two new Board of Trustees members, Rep. Bud Cramer
and Mr. Ronnie Smith. She recently had the pleasure of meeting
with Rep. Cramer in Washington and observed him to have a true interest
in JSU and enthusiasm about serving on the Board.
Dr. Turner reported her attendance at Council on Social Work Education
where the Social Work Program received reaffirmation with no progress
report.
Mr. Smith announced excerpts from the ACHE Statistical Abstract
provided in the folder. The full abstract may be obtained from
the web page or a hard copy from Mr. Smith’s office.
Mr. Smith announced Summer I enrollment down by 300 students.
Ms. Osterbind announced the expected arrival of the undergraduate
catalogue on July 9 and grades due the day after final exams by 1:00
p.m.
