Become a Peer Educator

Jacksonville State University students can earn
course credit for completing the peer educator program. The aim of this
course
is to provide students with social, organizational, and leadership
skills
as it relates to becoming and effective peer leader through volunteer
associations, on-campus and in the local community. The course
includes: Classroom
lectures and exercises that emphasize core skills needed for for
student
leaders to become effective peer educators on the subject of substance
abuse
and related issues, coupled with specific information on issues
students
might encounter as peer educators
Guest speakers will be a part of the classroom lectures
to give peer educators personal insight into issues that effect the
community and themselves as a whole, and
An experiential experience in which students will be
required to engage in some type of peer education or other approved
volunteer experience
