CROAA Education AND Certification Program

Jacksonville State University has partnered with the County Revenue Officers Association of Alabama to provide on-going education and training programs leading to a certification.

The Certification Program consists of three core courses and two electives. Courses are 20 hours in length, with information given on the first two days and a test on the third day. Participants must attend the entire course and make a passing grade on the test to satisfy certification requirements. Only courses listed within this program will be counted toward certification. Certified individuals must have 20 hours of continuing education within two years to maintain this certification. Continuing education hours may be obtained from attending courses within this program, from CRE courses, from attending the annual ACCA convention, or from providing instruction to CROAA classes at the rate of two hours for each hour of instruction. Some courses may be eligible for approval with APOSTC.

Leadership and Character

Are we born with our "character?" Most would agree that we are not. Character develops over time and does not change quickly. How do we know if a person has good character or bad character? A person's observable behavior is an indication of character. This behavior can be strong or weak, good or bad. If you believe you possess good leadership traits, the question then becomes, "Are others able to observe these traits in you?" If not, why not?

Note:

Notification will be sent to participants in the program when new electives are approved by the CROAA Education Committee. Courses from other programs will not be counted as electives for the CROAA Certification requirement unless approved by the Education Committee. For more information or suggestions regarding electives, contact Kelly Beegle, (256) 782-5918.

Failure to attend a course does not constitute withdrawal. The program administrator must be notified directly. If withdrawal is made by the registrant at least five working days prior to the course's beginning, a complete refund will be made. Refunds will not be made available after this time unless there are unusual circumstances involved.
