Program Objective
Post-license and continuing education courses are offered to licensees to enhance their professionalism, thereby fostering the protection of the public, by:
- acquiring new knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the conduct of their duties,
- refreshing their knowledge of core principles and practices,
- advancing their knowledge of selected advanced topics, and
- acquiring updated knowledge of content topics that change over time.
The acquisition of the above listed Pre-license, Post-license, and Continuing Education information is provided in the context of and educational methodology that insures that the material is:
- understood at a conceptual level
- able to be used in a fluent manner by the learner
- able to be applied to practical situations
Finally, the courses are designed to document the attainment of mastery and evaluated objectively and quantitatively to insure that transfer of knowledge actually occurs.
Course Description
This required course must be completed by all licensees within six months of obtaining an Alabama real estate license. It covers basic sales skills and practical exercises on completing listings, contracts, seller's net sheets and buyer qualifications for the new licensee. Students must complete all lessons on the computer, plus written assignments, before taking a final exam for the course. Students have six months to complete this course. Successful completion of all computer lessons and a score of 70% or better on the final exam will earn the student a certificate to mail in to the Alabama Real Estate Commission for a permanent license. The final exam is given at Jacksonville State University's Office of Continuing Education, Monday - Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Course delivery is certified by the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) and is approved by the Alabama Real Estate Commission.
