Fresh fruit and frozen yogurt now reside among chicken sandwiches and burritos in the TMB. Freshens held its Grand Opening Tuesday, debuting its fruit smoothies, yogurt and crepes.
"I love the idea of this place," said student Zach Heflin. "My girlfriend is a vegetarian and I'm not, so this is a place that we can go that we both enjoy.
"It caters to everyone."
Students have the option to customize anything, choosing from an assortment of toppings. Raspberries and blueberries are snuggled in next to Oreos, M&Ms and Fruit Loops.
Smoothie flavors include the usual, such as strawberry and peanut butter. But there's also the low-calorie Peach Breeze and high-protein Strawberries-n-Cream.
Multigrain crepes are available for all meals. The steak and egg is a popular breakfast choice; the tomato, basil and cheese for lunch. Dessert crepes, such as the cherry cheesecake, can be personalized with toppings such as fresh fruit or chocolate chips.
There is a build-your-own crepe, smoothie and yogurt option, too.
Freshens is open during regular TMB Food Court hours: Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
