Marijuana reformists move one step closer in the move to decriminalize marijuana.
Colorado and Washington citizens voted and passed initiatives to legalize marijuana for recreational use.
While it was a victory for many pro-marijuana supporters, the passing of Amendment 64 in Colorado and the initiatives in Washington are just the first strike against the government’s Controlled Substance Act that labels marijuana as an illegal drug.
Colorado’s new amendment will allow their citizens over the age of 21 to possess an ounce amount of marijuana and allow them to grow six plants at a time in a private setting.
However, public smoking of the herb is still outlawed.
