Jacksonville State’s men’s basketball team is set to tipoff the season on November 1st at home against William Carey.
The fans of the Gamecock men’s team will get 14 opportunities to “pack the Pete” this season, which includes five games to start the season off.
After the exhibitions against William Carey and West Georgia, JSU will open regular season play with Reinhardt on November
Later in the season, JSU will host preseason eastern division favorites and OVC newcomers Belmont on January 3rd and western division favorites, Murray State on January 26th.
These games will prove to be highlights of the season as the men’s team is academically ineligible for postseason play this year.
The Gamecocks will also be returning plenty of talent and experience from last year’s team. Junior guard Brian Williams, senior forward Tarvin Gaines and sophomore guard Darion Rackley look to build off the success they had late last season, which included a quarterfinal run in the OVC tournament.
They will have plenty of help along the way, too. Senior Ronnie Boggs and junior Nick Cook look to give the team a boost as the season gets underway, as well as junior college transfer Teraes Clemmons. His experience at the championship level of his junior college of Northwest Florida State should add extra leadership to an already strong team.
Also, keep a watchful eye out for incoming freshman point guard Alex Anderson from Memphis, Tennessee. He led his high school team to its first state title in 16 years. And his experience in leading his team during his senior season should translate well both on and off the court for the Gamecocks.
