On Wednesday, Oct. 17, the Mu Xi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated hosted and sponsored the second annual Open Mic and Auction for Breast Cancer Awareness in Leone Cole Auditorium.
All JSU students were allowed to sign up to show their talents with the open mic; also all male JSU students were allowed to participate in the auction.
Sigma Gamma Rho member Sherita Fredrick stood outside greeting and directing guests inside. “We haven’t done an event this semester and we wanted Sigma Gamma Rho to be shown in a good way,” she said.
Fredrick and her sorority sisters were very excited about being able to help with Breast Cancer Awareness month. “We sponsored this event and want people to showcase their talent. We actually have fifteen men in the auction and twenty people in the show.”
Ladies came out with their wallets as the bid in the auction started at $2.00.
The highest bidding price went to a singing freshman at $25.00.
After the members of Sigma Gamma Rho stood in audience with collecting baskets, they also participated in the open mic and made their own donations during the auction.
