Summer 2013 |
Fall 2013 |
Spring 2014 |
Here are some general tips prior to meeting with your academic advisor. Specific information is shown below by semester.
Prior to meeting with a CCBA academic advisor, it is recommended that students view both an academic transcript and a degree evaluation, both accessible via MyJSU. If any discrepancies are found, discuss this with your advisor.
1. View/Print the curriculum guide/checksheet
2. Update any completed courses
3. Prepare a schedule based on your remaining requirements noting any prerequisites
4. Bring your trial schedule in for approval
5. Register online through MYJSU
Trial schedule forms are available using this link: http://www.jsu.edu/registrar/student_forms.html
ADDITIONAL TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL ADVISING SESSIONS:
- CELL PHONES ARE TO BE TURNED OFF BEFORE ADVISING SESSION BEGINS.
- BE PREPARED. TAKE TIME PRIOR TO MEETING TO REVIEW TRANSCRIPT AND UPCOMING CLASS SCHEDULES. HAVE TRIAL SCHEDULE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY-- INCLUDING NAME, STUDENT NUMBER, CRNs, COURSE NUMBER and TITLE.
- IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT ADVISEMENT, PLEASE CONTACT MS. MCGHEE, 256-782-5778.
ADVISEMENT IS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SEEN BASIS. For students who need to schedule an appointment, call Mrs Rachel Haas, 256-782-5774. For students whose work hours conflict with CCBA Advising Center hours (8 am to noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm M - F) and Distance Education students who take 100% of their classes online and do not live within a 30 mile radius, contact Mrs Haas, 256-782-5778 or rhaas@jsu.edu, for advisement information.
Transfer Students - Because many of you will be enrolled in classes at other schools, it is necessary to bring a copy of the current class schedule in which you are enrolled. ALSO, review on MyJSU an academic transcript. If any transfer work is missing, you will need to bring a copy of the transcript from that institution, along with your current class schedule in order to be advised properly.
Online Students - Due to the demand of online courses, those typically fill quickly. Please plan accordingly and contact Mrs. Haas (rhaas@jsu.edu or 256-782-5774) in enough time to avoid the classes you need online being filled.
If you have any questions that are not covered throughout this website, please call Mrs Haas, 256-782-5774 or rhaas@jsu.edu. You must include your name and student number in the email and please as specific as possible. And remember, this is not text messaging.
