The Office of Career Services prefers to work by appointment, however, there are resources available in the office for most walk-in customers, as well as, electronic resources . To learn more about which services require an appointment, Career Services staff is organized, as follows:
Maria James, Secretary
- Answering general questions about Career Services
- Registering for Micro Career Fairs, general Career Fairs, Education Fair: A Reverse Career Fair, and other events
- Employment in Career Services as a student assistant
- Billing and payment for all Career Services events

Jimmeka Leverette, Career Advisor
Meets with Prospective/Current JSU students and Alumni for the Following:
- Critiquing corporate and federal resumes
- Teaching corporate resumes & federal resumes writing, and cover letter writing
- Facilitating resume workshops and individual resume critique
- Requesting to speak to student organizations
- Utilizing assessments for career counseling in choosing a major and career
- Understanding Career assessments such as TypeFocus, Myers Briggs, and STRONG
- Assisting students in the acquisition of interview skills and job application or inquiry protocol, to include mock interviews
- Gathering information in general to help students succeed throughout their college career
Meets with faculty or staff to discuss:
- Speaking to classes (prefer no less than 10 days advanced notice) for a Career Services overview
- Utilizing Myers Briggs as a team building activity - requires a small fee, see Assessments page for more information
- Discussing career exploration and self assessment
- Coordinating special classes, workshops and seminars designed to educate students in career development

Carlos Acosta, Career Specialist
Meets with Current JSU Students and Alumni for the following:
- Helping to find part-time, internship and co-op opportunities
- Identifying good job opportunities when students are ready to graduate
- Requesting to speak to student organizations about JLink, cooperative education and internships
- Providing interview preparation for internship and co-op opportunities
- Understanding the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP)
Meets with faculty or staff to discuss:
- Speaking to classes about co-op & internships not for academic credit (prefer no less than 10 days advanced notice)
- Developing internships & co-op opportunities
- Collaborating on ways to advertise internships, co-op and part-time employment to students
Meets with employers & community partners to discuss:
- Hiring students as interns (not for academic credit)
- Employing students in the co-op program
- Advertising an internship, co-op, full-time/part-time/seasonal job or opportunities for students to apply classroom learning in real world settings
- Providing assistance and resolve issues with employer, student or alumni JLink accounts
- Serving as the primary point of contact for JLink, a career management system

Becca Turner, Director
Meets with JSU Students & Alumni for the following:
- Providing mock interviews & interview preparation for post terminal degree programs
- Identifying good job opportunities when students are ready to graduate
- Educating students on the skills and characteristics employers are looking for most
- Overseeing the Clothes Closet, to assist students with professional dress and image
- All other questions related to helping students succeed at JSU
Meets with faculty or staff to discuss:
- Meeting the expectations of students for programming ideas, like micro-career fairs
- Connecting industry to students through classroom access
- Sharing data
- Collaborating to help students succeed
Meets with employers & community partners to discuss:
- Building employer branding on-campus
- Facilitating connections through partnerships
- Connecting industry to students through classroom access
- Collecting hiring reports
- Recruiting events and informational sessions (micro career fairs, networking chats, targeted recruiting efforts)
- Collaborating to help students become employed and develop skills, meanwhile meeting hiring needs
