Mason Hall houses the
Department of Music and the Department of
Family and Consumer Science on University Circle. The music
department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of
Music. It is home of the famous Marching
Southerners and Ballerinas. The department produces more band
directors and
performing musicians than any other university in north Alabama.
Degree options include the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music
Education, and the Bachelor of Music. Dr. Legare McIntosh is Head of the Music Department.
The family and consumer science program (formerly the Department
of Home Economics) offers the following degree options: Bachelor of
Science in Education with a teaching field in home economics or home
economics education; the Bachelor of Science with a major in
merchandising; the Bachelor of Science with a major in nutrition and
foods, and concentrations in dietetics or restaurant and foodservice
management.
