20th Annual Spring Gala and Silent Art Auction

The Visual Arts Society requests the pleasure of your company at the 20th Annual Spring Gala and Silent Auction on Thursday, May 17 at the Victoria Inn in Anniston. Proceeds from the evening will benefit JSU Art Student Scholarships.

The evening will begin with hors d'oeuvres and wine at 6:30 p.m., followed by the silent auction and dancing from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Dancing on the deck will be to the cool jazz sounds of the Manabu Saeki Band.

Included in the silent auction will be watercolor images, mosaic tile, charcoal drawings, ceramic pieces, collage, photography, hand blown glass, oil painting, artist portfolio, fiber art, jewelry and prints.

Ticket prices are $30 per single or $50 per couple for members. Non-members pay $35 per single or $60 per couple. VAS memberships will also be available at the Gala at a reduced price with ticket purchase.

34th Annual Mini-Works on Paper Exhibition
Juror: Mary Ann Sampson
Mary Ann is a visual artist who makes one-of-a-kind and letterpress editions of handmade books. Her studio is located in Ragland, Alabama in an old renovated bank building which she calls the One-Eye Opera Co. Her books were recently featured in JSU's Hammond Hall Gallery as part of the Kaleidoscope Artist Series: Books on the Shelf, the Art of the Handmade Book. In 2011 she was featured in the School of Arts at Samford University Visiting Visual Artist Series.

Fees

Up to three works may be entered for a (non-refundable) fee of $30.00. Please make checks payable to JSU Department of Art.

May 2 Exhibition opens
4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Reception and presentation of awards
May 30 Exhibition closes
June 30 Works returned*

*Works not picked up or returned to the artist by August 1, become the property of the JSU Department of Art.
