Jacksonville State University, also known as the "Friendliest Campus in the South," dates back to 1883 and offers 24 fields of study for bachelors' and masters' degrees and an enrollment of nearly 10,000 students.
Located one hour east of Birmingham and 1.5 hours west of Atlanta, the city of Jacksonville is surrounded by the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains & Talladega National Forest. The area offers breathtaking scenery year round, miles of hiking trails, biking, bird watching, hunting, fishing, and camping. Specific points of local interest are the Chief Ladiga Trail (Alabama’s premiere rail-trail), The Berman Museum & Anniston Museum of Natural History, and Cheaha State Park.
