International Student Application Deadlines*

International Student Admission Requirements

TOEFL * Required Score
Computer-Based 173 or above
Internet-Based 61 or above
*TOEFL ( Test of English as a Foreign Language) must have been completed within the last two years and be submitted to JSU directly from Educational Testing Services.
IELTS ** Required Score - 5.5 or above
**IELTS ( International English Language Testing System) test scores must be sent directly to JSU by IELTS. IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.


In lieu of taking the TOEFL or IELTS, an International Student may take the ACT or SAT and be admitted once meeting the following scores.

ACT Conditional Admission
17 - 19 (Composite)

Unconditional Admission
20 and above (Composite)

(minimum of 14 on the English Subtest)
SAT Conditional Admission
830 - 940 (Combined Critical Reading and Math)

Unconditional Admission
950 and above (Combined Critical Reading and Math)

(minimum of 350 on the Critical Reading Subtest)

In addition to the test score requirement, an international student must present proof of secondary school graduation. All secondary school documents must be evaluated by an approved evaluation agency listed in the Undergraduate Catalogue. This evaluation must be mailed to JSU directly from the evaluation agency.

International Student Financial Statement (ISFS) - International Students must also complete and return the ISFS to be admitted.
