Brandon Hollingsworth has served as news director for WLJS since January, 2006. In that capacity, his duties include delivering news summaries every half-hour during Morning Edition; anchoring Day to Day; writing news and weather copy; conducting interviews, both live and recorded; and anchoring local coverage during breaking news and weather events.

Brandon serves as East Alabama bureau reporter for Alabama Public Radio, and submits reports for APR's pod cast Prototype.

Throughout high school and college, Brandon worked for various media outlets, including school newspapers and radio stations. He landed at WLJS after a stint at Jefferson State Community College’s WJSR-FM, where served as de facto news director and newscaster.

Hollingsworth’s plans for the future include breaking into—and subsequently pretending to work at—NPR headquarters in Washington. He thinks he can get away with it if he lays low and occasionally writes copy for Robert Siegel. Failing that, Hollingsworth will usurp Ann Curry as newsreader for NBC’s Today in a bloodless coup.
